Florence Pugh Taps Into Summer’s Lingerie Layering Trend
Yesterday, fans got an official first look at Avengers: Doomsday with the inaugural trailer drop; Florence Pugh reprises her role as Black Widow assassin Yelena Belova. Yesterday also saw Florence tap back into one of her favorite styling techniques, one that’s perfect for summer. The actor was spotted out and about in New York—boyfriend Finn Cole close by—keeping things casual in a gray Joah Brown square necked cami top layered over a Fruity Booty pink and orange gingham bra replete with neon green straps. On the bottom, a pair of high-rise, light-wash blue jeans and P448 Monza corduroy blue low-profile sneakers. Pugh also carried a brown suede Monti east west shoulder bag from Fabrique, and sported a forest green Amber Waves Farm cap. Jewelry included a stack of gold rings, wrist watch, layered link necklaces, and small gold hoop earrings, and she wore brown rectangular sunglasses.Pugh’s blonde hair remains in a summery, neck-grazing bob, and she wore a silvery manicure that coordinated with her top. It’s all those little light details that make up the actor’s fun, free-spirited aesthetic.Photo: Getty ImagesShe’s no stranger to playing with underwear-as-outerwear, though usually, on the red carpet: sheer slip dresses care of Dolce & Gabbana, corseted Stella McCartney, romantic Rodarte. And bras are having quite the moment this summer; Anya Taylor-Joy went bra-first in Balmain, with an unbuttoned cardigan and low-rise midi skirt to make her fuschia underwear the focal point of the look. Gracie Abrams and Charli XCX have also been relying on Fleur du Mal for their respective album promo looks. It’s no surprise British Pugh picked up some intimates from London’s favorite pretty pants and bra dealer Fruity Booty, either. (Just like Chloë Sevigny and Alexa Chung.) The layered lingerie look is something you’ll also be noticing all summer long thanks to other small indie brands like August Barron, NiiHAi, and Gimaguas too. It’s likely we’ll be seeing more of Florence Pugh’s recognizable summer style as she continues to film her next project, the rom com 42.6 Years, in the city. For the Avengers: Doomsday press tour, though—and what will certainly be a major return to Pugh’s singular red carpet fashions—we’ll have to wait a while, as the movie hits theaters December 18.
