Indeed, the original gown, designed by legendary costume designer Edith Head for Hitchcock’s famous thriller, is a famous piece of cinematic fashion history. ‘Hitchcock told me it was important that Grace's clothes help to establish some of the conflict in the story,’ Head recalled of the dress in Edith Head’s Hollywood. ‘She was to be the typical sophisticated society-girl magazine editor who falls in love with a scruffy photographer, Jimmy Stewart. … Hitch wanted her to look like a piece of Dresden china, something slightly untouchable.’
Camille Gottlieb opened up about the frequent comparisons between her and her grandmother in a candid conversation with Vanity Fair in July, telling the outlet: ‘When people told me I looked like my grandmother, to me, I looked like “Mémé des anges,” [Grandmother of the Angels], not like an internationally known star.
