AssetPlus Launches Har Ghar MFD to Support India's Mutual Fund Distributors

AssetPlus, a WealthTech startup, has launched Har Ghar MFD, a digital learning and knowledge platform designed to support aspiring and existing Mutual Fund Distributors (MFDs), as India's mutual fund industry looks to address a growing gap between investor participation and distributor availability.

The initiative was unveiled in Mumbai in the presence of senior leaders from the mutual fund industry, including Navneet Munot, Managing Director & CEO, HDFC AMC; Nilesh Shah, Managing Director, Kotak Mahindra AMC; Radhika Gupta, Managing Director & CEO, Edelweiss Mutual Fund; and Sunil Subramaniam, former Managing Director & CEO, Sundaram Mutual Fund.

Addressing a Growing Distribution Gap

India's mutual fund industry has expanded rapidly over the past few years. Industry assets have crossed ₹81 lakh crore, while monthly Systematic Investment Plan (SIP) inflows have reached nearly ₹31,000 crore. However, the number of registered mutual fund distributors remains relatively limited at around 1.8 lakh, creating a gap between rising investor demand and access to financial guidance.

AssetPlus said the new platform is intended to make mutual fund distribution more accessible by providing free educational resources for individuals interested in building a career as an MFD.

"India's mutual fund growth story requires not only more investment products but also more informed professionals who can guide investors," said Vishranth Suresh, CEO and co-founder, AssetPlus. He added that the initiative aims to strengthen the industry's distribution ecosystem over the long term.

Technology-Powered Learning Platform

Har Ghar MFD combines educational videos, market explainers, regulatory updates, research insights, practical tools, calculators, and AI-powered content discovery into a single digital platform.

According to Awanish Raj, Co-founder and CTO at AssetPlus, the platform has been designed to make relevant information easier to discover by organising learning resources around the practical needs of mutual fund distributors rather than presenting static content libraries.

Digital Platforms Shape Financial Advisory

The launch highlights the trend within India's wealth management industry, where technology platforms are increasingly supporting financial advisors through digital learning, business management tools, and workflow automation.

As mutual fund adoption expands beyond metropolitan markets, digital enablement is becoming an important part of distributor development. Industry participants are investing in technology that simplifies onboarding, improves knowledge access, and helps advisors serve a growing base of retail investors more efficiently.

AssetPlus, founded in 2016, currently works with more than 21,000 mutual fund distributors, supporting assets under management of over ₹8,000 crore and serving more than 1.5 lakh investors. With Har Ghar MFD, the company is extending its focus from business enablement to professional education for the broader mutual fund distribution community.
