We expect to see the Canon EOS R8 Mark II announced in early September, and we have spoken a lot about the direction Canon is going with the 8-Series lineup.

The form factor of the camera will be very different aesthetically compared to the rest of the EOS R lineup, sporting a ‘retro' inspired design. We have been told a few specifications this week for the EOS R8 Mark II, and it sounds like it's going to be exactly what most of us expect.

We have some other bits of information, but we cannot confirm them or don't have permission to post them just yet. We hope to be able to share more in the near future.

We have no idea what the camera is going to look like in its ‘retro' skin, and we probably won't see any leaked images of the camera for at least another month.

Compared to the EOS R6 Mark III?

There will be a lot of segmentation between the EOS R6 Mark III and EOS R8 Mark II. We don't expect to see things like pre-shooting, open gate or high-speed communication protocols.

We were surprised to see IBIS will make its way into the EOS R8 Mark II, which means it's likely going to become a core feature in the next generations of EOS R camera bodies.
