Changes at Canon Rumors – No More Forum or Facebook

When you purchase through links on our site, we may earn an affiliate commission. Here's how it works.

Things have been quietly changing in the background for a few months around here. We are now implementing more forward facing changes at Canon Rumors.

The Forum

We have officially shut down the forum, and it will not return. There are many reasons for this decision, and we won't get into them publicly.

In a way, it's sad to see it go. In other ways, I am happy this decision was made. All data on the forum will be deleted on September 16, 2026.

Facebook

We have officially unpublished the Canon Rumors Facebook page. Again, there are multiple reasons for this. There was a lot of internal debate about the decision, and in the end, I fully support the direction.

Ad-Free Premium

It will be a week or so before we have a solution implemented for our ad-free premium members out there.

Sell the Forum or Facebook Page?

We have no interest in selling either the forum or the Facebook page.

A New Comments Section?

It's possible, but we're nowhere near making that decision. Moderation is thankless work and takes a lot of time.

Why These Changes?

It's time to streamline the site and its technology, moving forward into an internet driven by AI. There's no point in doing things like everyone else.

There are unknowns about the future of content sites, but there are a lot of smart people coming up with new strategies to navigate these new realities. That said, some of these new realities aren't going to stick around.

Thanks.
