Fallout: Wasteland Warfare and Fallout: Factions players received a look into the irradiated future!
Modiphius Entertainment hosted a massive State of the Wasteland livestream this week and showed off an absolute ton of upcoming stuff for both Fallout: Wasteland Warfare and its sister game Fallout: Factions. The already impressive lines of official Fallout miniatures are going to receive some amazing new figures over the next year alongside new ways to play and introductory box sets. There’s too much for us to cover everything, but here are a few of the coolest items coming to the wasteland.
Wasteland Warfare — Warbands Starter Set
Coinciding with the upcoming new edition of Wasteland Warfare, the new starter box set pits a warband of Survivors against rival Super Mutants as they explore, settle, and battle for resources. A dynamic campaign system creates challenging encounters and intriguing quests for both players, telling a series of unique stories. Player choices and actions will impact your leading hero and their companions and followers.
Male and Female Vault Dweller Heroes
New multi-part plastic kits are coming to help you equip and personalize your Vault Dwellers. All of them are wearing their signature VaulTec suits and Pipboys, but the kits will let you choose from a plethora of interchangeable armor and weapon options. You can build these figures without any armor at all or with your choice of leather, metal, and combat armor. The weapons options are as varied as you’d expect for a heroic survivor. It seems that the two kits will have some different weapon configuration options, but specifics have not yet been confirmed.
New Characters: Vault Dweller in T-45, Dog Meat, The Ravager, The MuttThree all new character models have also been unveiled. All three will first be available as pre-assembled PVC figures included in the Warband Starter Set, but will see later individual release as resin hobby kits.
Players of Fallout 4 will recognize the game’s protagonist, Nate. Or not. I know my Nate looked more like Riff Raff from Rocky Horror than this model, but still, he’s cool! Decked out in a partial set of T-45 Power Armor he’s ready to face the challenges of the Commonwealth. And of course, Dog Meat is here to accompany your hero.
Meanwhile, the Super Mutants are getting their own character, the Ravager. Based on concept art from Fallout 4, this burly character is wielding a pair of lawnmower blades and bedecked in armor scavenged from those same gardening machines. Classified as a “Major Threat” in the rules, you’ll have to decide for yourself if he’s really a dangerous villain or just a guy trying to make a living as a landscaper. Naturally, he’s also accompanied by his faithful hound, the Mutt. This “meat-seeking” tank is an armored mutant hound and the Super Mutant answer to the ever loyal Dog Meat, also coming soon!
Irradiated Wildlife
No Fallout game would be complete without swarms of unpleasant creatures to level up on. A host of verminous pests will be infesting your battlefields before long. Radroaches, Radrats, Mole Rats, and of course, the ever-charming Mole Rat Brood Mother will recieve new indvidual kits. A PVC encounter kit is also coming that will include all of the above minus the Radroaches.
Tons more stuff is coming for both iterations of the Fallout miniatures game and you can read the lengthy roadmap ahead. Some very cool stuff like Giant Ants, an all new Honey Beast, wolves and The Master, himself will all be making their way to the tabletop before long. I picked up the Battle for Nuka-World starter set this spring, myself and I can’t wait to add some of this new stuff to my own games.
If I get any say in the matter I want a Far Harbor box set next.
