A homicide investigation is underway after a woman was found dead in a backyard on Melbourne's outskirts.
Neighbours said they heard screams from a Sunnybank Way home in Pakenham shortly after 8am on Sunday.
Emergency services were called to the scene, where a woman, 35, was found unresponsive.
She died at the scene despite frantic efforts to revive her.
A distraught man at the property was taken to hospital and has since spoken to police.
No arrests or charges have been laid.
'Police will await the results of a post-mortem as the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death remain unclear,' a police spokesperson said.
Homicide detectives, local police and forensic officers spent much of Sunday at the home.
