After four days of TTs and hills, the fastest finishers of the Tour de France will see their chances on a stage that’s almost as flat as a crepe.
Race officials hinted they made this stage as easy as possible to apologize to the sprinters for making them wait this long. So prepare yourselves for a by-the-numbers sprint stage: doomed French breakaway, a late chase, a crazy final 5K — you know the routine.
The final kilometer is flat, straightforward, and very fast. First to the line takes early bragging rights in the sprinter battle and possibly also the green jersey from stage 4 winner and overnight points competition leader Mads Pedersen. Though he will be looking to hold onto the jersey for a good while
