This story contains light spoilers for Sullivan’s Crossing season 4.

Sullivan’s Crossing only just got renewed for season 5, but Chad Michael Murray is already spilling his hopes for the new installment.

When the actor sat down with Good Housekeeping, he shared that he hadn’t heard anything yet about what the new season will entail—and how unusual that is.

“You know what's interesting, and I'll tell you this—I have no idea what we're doing in season 5,” he told us over Zoom. “Typically, I know pretty much the entire storyline or arc for the season by now, but this season, I don’t know. It's just been so busy and so hectic that I haven't had a moment to pick up the phone and say, 'Hey, guys, give me the deets.’ I don’t know what the arc is, and I’m kind of in the dark … I might make that call after this Zoom!”

However, he shared that he has high hopes for where the show will take Cal in the next season.

“I think at some point we'll probably have to deal with my father's death,” he said. “I know we hinted and touched on it [in season 4], and I think that would be, you know, a traumatic moment for him to finally have to deal with. But he's dealt with it to a certain extent, so it wouldn't be as impactful as maybe we would hope.”

Chad also had a thought on a more dramatic direction the show could take.

“I also think it would be interesting to see if Cal got to a place where he couldn’t be the rock for the Crossing,” he said. “What if Cal got sick, like really sick, where he’s down and it’s going to be a three-month hole of trying to beat something and be incapacitated instead? I think that would be emotionally draining for him to be taken care of versus being a somewhat leader of the Crossing and taking care of everyone who’s coming to heal.”

We’ll have to wait for season 5 to find out—and boy, are we on the edge of our seats.

‘Sullivan’s Crossing’ season 4 is now available to stream on Netflix.
