Warning: There are spoilers ahead for From season 4, episode 10, "If a Tree Falls in the Forest..."Death isn't always the end in From.
Two important characters are killed in the From season 4 finale, with Marielle Sinclair (Kaelen Ohm) dying at the hands of Smiley (Jamie McGuire), and Sophia (Julia Doyle) murdering Elgin Williams (Nathan D. Simmons). Both Marielle and Elgin were introduced in season 2 as passengers aboard the bus that comes into the Township, and Ohm and Simmons have been series regulars ever since.
In an interview with ScreenRant's Tatiana Hullender for the From season 4 finale, Simmons was asked if there is any chance of Elgin returning in season 5, especially since the finale does not show Clara (Katerina Bakolias) disposing of his body. While Simmons doesn't know what is in store, he reveals that the show still has a life-size Elgin dummy from when the character was tortured in the season 3 finale. He also brings up the possibility of returning the same way that Father Khatri (Shaun Majumder) and other dead characters have. Check out his comments below:
I don't know. That's a mystery for me too. They do still have a life cast where they did my eye. They made a whole dummy, like a body double, so I don't know if they're gonna use that when they see the body or if it'll be me. But we'll see, whatever goes forward!
Maybe you know I may come back as a ghost or something, like Father Khatri or something. Honestly, I'm actually excited to be able to sit back and watch with everybody next season. If I can avoid spoilers from certain people in the show, that is! I still want to know what's up with Elgin. I don't even know why he had visions compared to other people, and that's one thing I'm still hoping to find out.
With Marielle's partner, Kristi Miller (Chloe Van Landschoot), still alive, the loss of Ohm's character will inevitably hang over season 5. As for whether Marielle could physically return next season, the actor pitches coming back as a ghost or via flashbacks of what life was like with Kristi before either of them were trapped by the Township.
Yeah, that would be awesome. I think it'd be cool to come back as a ghost, like the bartender, and lots of different characters. I'm also so curious about how we're seeing people's lives outside of town. That could be really interesting too, if we see Kristi enter through the portal of grief into her past lore in a way. Either way, it'd be fun to come back as either a non-person or a regular person [in a flashback].
Since Father Khatri, Tom the bartender (Reid Price), and plenty of other residents have reappeared after their deaths, there is definitely precedent for the same thing to happen with Elgin or Marielle. Khatri's ghost seemingly tries to help Boyd Stevens (Harold Perrineau), and Tom appears to be trying to help Jade Herrera (David Alpay). Elgin and Marielle could try to help in a similar way, with the latter potentially even getting to temporarily reunite with Kristi.

Flashbacks to Marielle and Kristi's relationship would be a more unconventional route for this show. Up to this point, flashbacks have only been used to depict events in the Town's history or right before characters encounter the fallen tree in the road and discover they are trapped. Seeing what everyday life was like for Marielle and Kristi would be an avenue the show has never explored before. With season 5 being the final one, it is the last opportunity to do this, though.
In terms of From questions that still need answers, Simmons brings up the matter of Elgin's visions. It's now known that the Kimono Woman (Shuoxin Fu) was manipulating him in order to ensure that Smiley was resurrected, but Elgin started having visions long before this and from the moment the bus entered the Town. He seemed to have a stronger connection to the location than many of the other residents, and there could be more to explore about why this was the case.
With Marielle and Elgin now dead, Randall Kirkland (A.J. Simmons) and Bakta (Angela Moore) are the last named and surviving From characters who were on the bus. Bakta is busy running the diner, and while Randall has matured and become a more trusted member of the community, his ultimate role in the series has yet to be revealed.
