We went last year and it was a vibe – so we’re very happy to see Malik Acid’s Mango Listening Bar returning for a second summer. Taking over All Projects Limited in Haggerston across the weekend of 11th – 12th July, it’s a two-day celebration of mango season, blending vinyl-led soundscapes with tastings, cocktails, talks and a whole lot of fruit.
The concept comes from Malik Acid, the London-based food and beverage studio founded by Cameron and Missy Malik-Flynn, whose work sits at the intersection of flavour, culture and experience design. Mango acts as the through-line – a fruit tied to heritage and memory but shared across cultures – and the entire programme is built around it.
On the drinks front, expect regional mango varieties including Kesar (India), Chaunsa (Pakistan) and Langra (Bangladesh), paired with botanicals like jasmine green tea, lime leaf, coriander and chilli. There’ll also be a mango vegan lassi, spiced mango soda and orange wine on tap, plus mezcal served with Langra mango.
The space has been developed in collaboration with Friendly Pressure, who’ll be soundtracking the weekend entirely on vinyl. Saturday’s line-up includes sculptor Tessa Silva, director Stephen Isaac, designers Andu Masebo and Lewis Teague-Wright, Dialled In’s Mahnoor and Friendly Pressure’s Shivas Howard Brown. On Sunday, expect contributions from fashion designer Zain Ali, Mambow’s Abby Lee, model Jonas Gloer and Eat With Spoons’ Rahel Stephanie, alongside a panel talk featuring writer Mehlaqa and Malik Acid co-founder Missy Flynn exploring the politics, movement and cultural systems surrounding fruit.
Even better, it’s all in support of a good cause, with 50% of food and drink profits going to Amos Trust as it marks its 40th year.
Open to all.
