Can Live Series Continues with ‘Live In Arles 1975’

The release originates from a fan recording of a show that the band played

An ongoing series of Can live releases will continue this September with the unveiling of Live In Arles 1975.

The release originates from a recording of the show that was captured by a fan when the band played on a hot August 1975 night at Roman Amphitheatre, Théâtre Antique d’Arles in France. “I remember a very beautiful atmosphere,” Can’s Irmin Schmidt said of the show. “It was a summer night in the South of France, everybody was stoned and the atmosphere was very special.”

The recording features the core band lineup of Irmin Schmidt, Jaki Liebezeit, Michael Karoli and Holger Czukay. The sleeve notes for the release include recollections of the show by two fans – including the author and journalist Pascal Bussy – which also feature a translation of a French magazine article from the time.

Listen to an excerpt from the recording, ‘Arles 75 Drei’, below.

Mute / Future Days will release Live In Arles 1975 on 25 September 2026.
