Clothing chain Quiz has confirmed it is shutting down its final 20 stores after falling into administration earlier this year.

The Glasgow-founded group owed more than £40million when it called in administrator Interpath at the start of the year.

Over a dozen stores have since shut after the retail chain confirmed a ‘phased closure plan’ with an aim to close all units by the end of June.

Earlier this month, stores located in Aberdeen, Watford, Hanley, Mansfield, Warrington, Bracknell, Clydebank, Eastbourne, Inverness, Telford, Basingstoke, Carlisle, and Dunfermline closed.

Now, according to Drapers, Interpath has confirmed that the final 20 shops will close today, so which branches are shutting for good?

The remaining shops will continue to trade as normal until today as part of a ‘final clearance push’.

Alistair McAlinden, the head of Interpath in Scotland, told Drapers: ‘As the Quiz stores close their doors for the final time, we would like to thank every member of staff for their commitment over the past five months.

‘In exceptionally challenging circumstances, their professionalism ensured the business could continue to trade effectively. We are extremely grateful for their efforts and wish them all the best for the future.’

Interpath managing director Geoff Jacobs said last month: ‘We’d once again like to say a huge thank you to Quiz staff who have shown such dedication and professionalism under difficult circumstances.’

The news comes after Morrisons confirmed that it will be closing 100 of its Daily convenience stores across the UK this year, and as retail chain Leading Labels, which sells major fashion brands at a discount, confirms store closures too.
