Free fandom and pop culture convention takes place June 20, 2026
Marietta, Ga. — MiniCon, a free fandom and pop culture convention, returns to Sewell Mill Library & Cultural Center on Saturday, June 20, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Now in its sixth year, MiniCon invites fans of all ages to celebrate fantasy, science fiction, anime, superheroes, gaming, books, cosplay, and more. The event brings together families, artists, readers, performers, and pop culture fans for a full day of activities, entertainment, shopping, and community connection.
“Now in its sixth year, MiniCon has truly become a cornerstone of our community programming,” said Marie Jernigan, Cobb PARKS Cultural Affairs Manager. “It’s an incredible, high-energy day where families and fans of all ages can come together, showcase their cosplay, and discover amazing local talent in our artist vendor market. Seeing the community connect over shared passions, from anime and superheroes to Dungeons & Dragons, is what makes this event an absolute highlight of our year.”
The day begins with activities for young fans, including a themed story time, craft, and Children’s Costume Parade. Guests can also enjoy face painting, Dungeons & Dragons, a costume mini photoshoot, panel discussions, live entertainment, and Artist Alley, featuring 25 local artists.
Cosplay fans are invited to participate in the MiniCon cosplay contest. Contest categories include Youth, Teen, and Adult. The event will close with Cosplay Karaoke, where guests can sing along in costume.
Readers and book fans can visit the Black Box Theater for a local author panel featuring Jo Schulte, Xan Kaur, Preeti Chhibber, and Vanya Stoyanova. The authors will discuss young adult books, book fandom, and their writing. Copies of their books will be available for purchase in the lobby through Brave + Kind Bookshop.
Food will also be available during the event. The Cheesy Truck and Sweet Zensations will be located near the flagpole with food and treats for purchase. Guests can also stop by Mr. Tombstone’s Coffee Emporium in the café for coffee and snacks.
MiniCon welcomes nearly 1,500 guests each year and continues to grow as a community celebration of the movies, television shows, books, games, characters, and stories that shape pop culture.
