A GoFundMe page has been launched to support Josh’s family in bringing the teenager’s body home and arranging his funeral.
The fundraiser was organised by his great-aunt, Anne Marie Portakal, who said that his ‘sudden passing has left his family, friends, classmates, and wider community devastated’.
She wrote: ‘No family should ever have to face the unimaginable pain of losing a child, especially in such tragic and unexpected circumstances while away from home. As they navigate this incredibly difficult time, they are also faced with significant practical and financial challenges associated with bringing Josh home and arranging his funeral and memorial.

‘We have created this GoFundMe page to help ease some of that burden and allow the Fleming family to focus on grieving and supporting one another during this heartbreaking period.
‘Any contribution, no matter how small, will be deeply appreciated. If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this page to help us reach others who may wish to support the family.’
The GoFundMe page has already raised over €7,400 from 39 contributors. €5,000 of this came from one anonymous donor.

Anne Marie added: ‘Josh touched the lives of many people in his short 17 years, and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
‘Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support at this difficult time.
‘Rest in peace, Josh. You will never be forgotten.’
