Wiltshire NHS Covid vaccine deadline with booster ending

Almost half a million people in the South West have already come forward for a booster, but health officials warn that time is running out for those who remain unvaccinated as the programme ends on June 30. Emma Redfern, Medical Director Specialised Commissioning at NHS England South West, said: "You only have until 30 June to get your spring COVID-19 vaccine, so it is important that everyone eligible comes forward as soon as possible. "This is especially important for adults and children aged 6 months and over who are immunosuppressed, as COVID-19 can cause serious illness for those with a weakened immune system." The spring booster is being offered to adults aged 75 and over, residents in older adult care homes, and those aged six months and over with a weakened immune system. Ms Redfern said the vaccine remains a key defence against serious illness and hospitalisation. She said: "Topping up yours or your child’s protection now can help reduce the risk of COVID-19 over the coming months. "Appointments are available at local pharmacies, GP practices and walk-in clinics, but the offer ends at the end of the month (30 June), so please do not leave it too late. "If you’re not sure whether you are eligible, speak with your GP for further advice." The NHS will contact eligible individuals, but they do not have to wait for an invitation to book their jab. The final day to book is June 29, with vaccinations available at GP surgeries, pharmacies and walk-in centres until June 30. The vaccine can be booked through the NHS App, online, by calling 119, or via text phone at 18001 119. For full details on eligibility, booking options and clinic locations, visit www.nhs.uk/covid-vaccine. Walk-in clinic locations are listed on the NHS website. Home visits are available for people who receive care at home by contacting their GP. Those aged 75 and over may also be eligible for the respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) vaccine, which can be given at the same time as the Covid-19 booster in some locations. Protection from previous vaccination or infection can reduce over time so it is important to top up your protection.
