UK family-run butchers collapses into administration – 'over 100 years of experience'
A Buckinghamshire catering butcher with over 100 years of combined experience has entered administration, according to a notice in the London Gazette. The Buckingham Butcher Limited is a family-run business led by father and son Trevor and Harry Denton, committed to sustainable, locally sourced meat. Based in Buckingham, supplies fresh meat and poultry to restaurants, pubs, schools, colleges, private healthcare providers and catering services across the region.According to the notice published on May 18 by the London Gazette, the UK's public record since 1665, administrators were appointed in the High Court of Justice, Business and Property Courts, Leeds Insolvency and Companies List (ChD) on May 11. Zane Collins, of Rushtons Insolvency Limited in Saltaire, West Yorkshire, was named as administrator.On its website, The Buckingham Butcher describes itself as a “well-established catering butcher” specialising in “high-quality, fully traceable fresh meat and poultry” sourced from local farms and trusted suppliers.Its beef, lamb, pork, poultry, cooked meats and speciality meat products are sourced, where possible, from within a 15-mile radius, including Touchbridge Farm, Smithfield Market and other responsibly farmed local suppliers.The company added on its website: "You’ll often see Trevor at Smithfield Market, a cup of tea in hand, hunting for the best meat, or chewing the fat with Ed at Farmer Ed’s farm. His larger-than-life presence and dedication guarantee that every cut meets our high-quality and sustainability standards."Quality, traceability and sustainability have been central to The Buckingham Butcher’s brand identity. Located at 11-15 Homestall, Buckingham Industrial Estate, its team is dedicated to eco-friendly practices from renewable energy initiatives and efficient transport to waste reduction and recyclable packaging."Our comprehensive sustainability policy ensures that our operations contribute positively to the environment and the community."Alongside its wholesale operation, the business also operates a retail arm known as Harry’s of Winslow, which sells meat and poultry directly to the public.The company has received some glowing reviews.
