Netflix Upfront 2026 Announcements: Series Renewals, New Movie and TV Reveals & More

Picture Credits: Netflix / Sony Pictures The Upfronts are back. Every year, most networks and streamers head to New York City to present their upcoming slate to entice advertisers. Today, Netflix presented What are the Upfronts, and what did Netflix bring?  Historically, the Upfronts are a decades-old television industry tradition where legacy broadcast networks preview their upcoming fall lineups. Netflix officially crashed the party a few years ago, and for good reason. Ever since the introduction of the ad-supported tier, Netflix has needed a dedicated platform to woo advertisers, media buyers, and big global brands into buying commercial space. Simply put, the Upfronts aren’t actually designed for us, everyday subscribers—they’re a flashy, star-studded sales pitch to corporate executives. It’s Netflix’s opportunity to flex its massive viewership metrics, unveil new ad-tech (like the newly teased interactive and AI-generated ad breaks for 2026), and prove to marketing agencies that their brands belong attached to the world’s biggest shows. But just because the bulk of the presentation isn’t for us doesn’t mean announcements and first looks aren’t part of the fun.  In prior years, Netflix used this stage to drop surprise flagship renewals, lock in release windows for highly anticipated heavy-hitters, and sometimes even brand-new project announcements. It’s already been a busy day of reveals so far. Earlier today, Netflix revealed first looks at Will Ferrell’s new comedy series The Hawk, coming in July 2026, alongside a release window and a first-look poster featuring Florence Pugh front and center for the highly anticipated series East of Eden, now set for a Fall 2026 release. The streamer also confirmed its partnership with Mike Epps with two new stand-up specials.   Here is a full breakdown of everything announced during the Netflix Upfronts 2026 (so far): Brand New Movie and TV Projects A Matter of Time – Movie – Ben Stiller, Nicholas Galitzine, and Bella Maclean will star in this new feature from director Harry Bradbeer. The film is being produced under a partnership in which Sony Pictures offers Netflix a first look at any streaming-intended films. “An unlikely angel is sent from heaven to convince a reclusive man to give up his life for the greater good. The man agrees, only for his impending death to trigger a new lease on life, and a romance that threatens to change the course of history.” Barbaric – Series – Netflix has officially greenlit a medieval fantasy adaptation of the hit Vault Comic about a cursed barbarian and his talking axe, coming from creator Sheldon Turner and A+E Studios with Sam Claflin attached to executive produce. Calabasas – Series – Bridgerton creator Chris Van Dusen is teaming up with executive producers Emma Roberts and Kim Kardashian for a brand-new YA drama set at an elite private school, inspired by the book If You Lived Here You’d Be Famous by Now: True Stories from Calabasas. Grown Ups 3 – Movie – Adam Sandler and the crew are heading back to the lake! Director Kyle Newacheck (Happy Gilmore 2) is officially attached to a third installment of the comedy franchise, with Sandler and Tim Herlihy writing the script. Alongside the renewal, Levy has extended his creative partnership with Netflix via a brand-new series first-look deal. Dan Levy said upon the renewal: “Very grateful and beyond excited to continue the Big Mistakes adventure and my creative collaboration with Netflix. Season 2 is already in the works and it’s going to be WILD. I can’t wait to get it out there to everyone as soon as humanly possible.” Love is Blind (Season 11) – Set to premiere in Fall 2026, the pods are heading to New England!
