What TikTok is Telling Us About Spring/Summer 2026 Trends
At the opposite end of the spectrum sits the continued world dominance of Miu Miu’s micro proportions, such as the micro skirts and shrunken cardigans. Where once they were presented as cutesy and hyper-preppy, they are now balanced by oversized outer layers, flat shoes, and a (seemingly) careless, undone approach to beauty. Think tiny tops and oversized trousers, or vice versa, and when it comes to Miu Miu, we don’t do stealth wealth; the visible logo is the icing on an otherwise saccharine fashion cake.Skinny jeansPhoto: Alena Zakirova/Getty ImagesPerhaps the most quietly subversive shift, however, is the return of the skinny jean. Although the trend is repetitive, we can't fully phase it out. Dark-wash skinnies are styled with pointed boots, kitten-heeled thong sandals, oversized boyfriend shirts, and a gut-wrenching sense of nostalgia. There is a self-awareness to it, a nod to the mid-2010s, and a kind of surrender to a trend we might as well learn to master. The awkwardness is part of the appeal, and we find solace in knowing that, in the blink of an editor’s eye, the silhouette will inevitably be reworked once again.Earthing these semi-performative pieces is a layer of everyday minimalism. The ribbed tank, the impeccably cut pencil skirt, and the luxe silk separates all act as a grounding force within the loud chaos of TikTok dressing. Without them, the statement pieces risk coming across as costume-like. This is where our attention flows, and the longevity lies.Oversized beltsPhoto: Moritz Scholz/Getty Images
