The ‘Other Bennet Sister’ Cast Wrote Their Characters’ Dating Profiles, and Mary’s Mom Would Catfish on Her Behalf
Mary Bennet’s dating profile would include rocks. Not diamonds, but rocks. When Cosmopolitan asked the cast of The Other Bennet Sister how they would write their characters’ dating profiles, Ella Bruccoleri said that her character, “She wants someone who likes rocks, not diamonds. She’d love a historian or a geologist!” Sounds like a rocky romance (I had to).At first, Ella panicked, “I’ve never been on a dating app, so I don’t know what—can anyone help me,” and looked to both of her co-stars Dónal Finn and Laurie Davidson. Laurie offered, “Your preferences!” Then Laurie took it a step further, “Your kinks.” Ella powered on, “She’s seeking companionship over romance.” When asked if Mary needs someone who can read, she says literacy is important, but she didn’t want to exclude the non-reader prospects, and said Mary would love to teach. “Must love books, I can teach you to read if you can’t.” Ah, Mary Bennet, brings all the boys to the… library.Mary Bennet’s biggest nemesis is her mother, who, no matter what Mary does, is never pleased. In fact, she views Mary more like her personal maid that she must tolerate. And she definitely doesn’t view her as someone who could get married. What would happen if Mary’s mother wrote her dating profile? Ella explains: “Overlook the flaws, the clumsiness and the bad hair. She will in time make a good wife. It would be like if you were selling a car.” Dónal adds, “Here are some pictures without glasses.” Ella takes it up a notch, “Imagine if Mrs. Bennett put thirst trap photos of Mary, super-posed bikini body photos.” So far, Mrs. Bennet’s profile sounds like it would get the most traction. Laurie reels it back in, “I like the idea that she’s actually not got any pictures of you. You’re just in the back of shots.” Finn adds, “I think she’d make her a profile that was clearly catfishing! And it was really pictures of Lizzie.”Dónal took a stab at Hayward’s profile: “Yorkshire man, living in London, seeks poetry enthusiast, life of simple means, nature enthusiast, can’t swim, interested in rocks.” And finally, Ryder’s profile. Laurie starts off with, “Free-spirited, twenty-something, seeks individual who will just say yes… to any ideas. Ryder wants someone who will just be up for anything.” Ella adds on, “Is there an option for ‘open-relationship?’ Laurie agrees, “Yeah! Curious and willing to try anything.” Except one thing, marriage.Mary Bennet might not have the best dating profile, but her tiny spectacles, intelligence, natural charm, and kindness bring Hayward and Ryder under her spell pretty quickly.
