Nova's Jase and Lauren announce major change to their show: 'It's something we wanted for a long time'
Jason Hawkins and Lauren Phillips have announced a major change for their Melbourne radio breakfast slot.The Nova 100 program will now be known as Jase, Lauren and Clint after newsreader Clint Stanaway was 'officially' added to the lineup.Stanaway, who joined the popular duo's Jase and Lauren show in March 2024, struggled to hold back tears as his mates discussed the rebrand. 'I'm so overwhelmed,' the 43-year-old said, after listening to a special segment that recapped his two years on the show.He continued, 'I mean, Lauren knows me better than anyone else, and how easily and quickly do I get overwhelmed in situations like this?'The former Channel Nine stalwart, who departed the network in November 2025 after 25 years to focus on his radio career, has been a hit with listeners, a fact that Phillips said influenced the rebrand. It's mentioned every single day, so it's the greatest thing that could happen to this show.'During the program, Hawkins joked that people have been 'spray painting' the words 'where's Clint?' on posters advertising their breakfast show around Melbourne.'Well, look, it started, we were up at four o'clock in the morning, in the middle of the night, sneaking around, graffitiing our own marketing campaign,' Phillips added.Nova later shared footage of the breakfast radio trio sharing hugs in the studio after making the announcement. 'Our show has always been built on the friendship between the three of us, so this change makes perfect sense,' Phillips said in a statement.'Saying "Clint's here too" multiple times a morning really chews up airtime, so the name change just makes sense,' Hawkins joked.Stanaway announced his exit from Channel Nine last September. I made a really tough decision,' he said at the time.Clint added that he had developed an enormous passion for radio since joining Nova.He began his media career in the news library at Melbourne's GTV9 in the early 2000s and steadily rose through the ranks. Clint later honed his reporting skills at WIN Television in Bendigo, before returning to 9News Melbourne, where he took on the role of news and court reporter.Several years later, the veteran journalist was appointed weekend sport presenter for 9News Melbourne.Across his sports journalism career, he covered many major events, including the Olympic Games and the Melbourne Cup.
