Child taken to hospital after emergency services called to Manchester leisure centre
A child has been rushed to hospital after emergency services were called to a swimming pool in Hyde this afternoon.Emergency crews scrambled to Hyde Leisure Pool on Walker Lane on Sunday (May 3) after reports a child had got into difficulty in the water.Manchester Evening News understands the alarm was raised shortly before paramedics arrived at the scene.Witnesses described chaotic scenes as the pool was evacuated, with one person saying they saw ambulance crews performing CPR.The child was later taken to hospital for further checks and is understood to have been conscious after being pulled from the water.A spokesperson for North West Ambulance Service said: “We received a call for a child in cardiac arrest at Active Hyde and several NWAS resources were dispatched to the scene, in which a patient was then taken to Tameside General Hospital.”Active Tameside, which operates the facility, has been approached for comment.
