Woman dead and 7 stabbed in violent week across London
It has once again been a violent week, with major knife crime incidents between Wednesday (April 29) to Friday (May 1).
This includes Golders Green, Edgware, Bounds Green, Fulham and West Finchley.
Information about each incident is from the Metropolitan Police and based on what London Now is aware of.
Essa Suleiman of Camberwell is charged with two counts of attempted murder, and one count of possession of a bladed article in a public place following Wednesday's attack (April 29).
He has also been charged with attempted murder in relation to a separate incident in Great Dover Street in Southwark earlier the same day.
A major police presence, including armed officers, was deployed to Highfield Avenue near Golders Green Road at around 11.16am on Wednesday following reports of people being stabbed.
The suspect, a British national born in Somalia, was tasered before being arrested.
Two men, aged 76 and 34, were taken to hospital with stab wounds.
The 34-year-old has since been released from hospital and the 76-year-old remains there in a stable condition.
An investigation is being led by Counter Terrorism Policing (CTP), with the incident officially declared as a terrorist incident.
Police were called to Whitchurch Lane in Edgware on Wednesday (April 29) at 3.35pm
An 18-year-old was treated at the scene for stab wounds to his leg.
He was taken to hospital, where his injuries were found to be not life-threatening nor life-changing.
An investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made at this stage.
Police were called to Durnsford Road in Bounds Green on Wednesday (April 29) at around 11pm to reports of the knife attack.
A 16-year-old boy was found injured and taken to hospital.
His injuries are not considered to be life-changing or life-threatening.
No arrests have been made at this stage, the Metropolitan Police said.
Sophinia Bertrand, 46, has been identified as the victim after a murder investigation was launched following the incident in Tyrawley Road in Fulham on Thursday (April 30).
Police were called to the scene at 1.10am to reports of a woman found with head injuries.
She was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following a post-mortem examination, her cause of death was found to be blunt force trauma.
Mehdi Madar, 45 and of Tyrawley Road, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of murder and was taken into police custody.
The suspect was known to the victim, the Metropolitan Police said.
He has been charged on Friday (May 1) with murder and has been remanded to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Saturday morning (May 2).
Police were called to Nether Street, near Essex Park in West Finchley, on Friday (May 1) at 4.20am following reports of a fight with three men.
At the scene, two men in their 20s were found with knife injuries.
They were taken to hospital, where their injuries were found to be non-life-changing and non-life-threatening.
A 19-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of wounding with intent.
He was taken into custody where he remains.
