Donald Trump insists King Charles 'would have helped' US with Iran

The US President claimed the King “would probably” have helped the US with Iran.He said: “The King is fantastic. We spent a lot of time together. We had a lot of talk. We talked about this also, and he loves his country, and he's a great king, and he's a great friend of mine.“And I think if he were doing that, if that were up to him, he would have probably helped us with Iran. ”Mr Trump added the King "would have followed the suggestions" the US made about Ukraine. It comes after his comments at the state dinner on Tuesday night, when the President said Charles had agreed with him on the need to prevent Tehran from getting a nuclear bomb.He told guests: “We have militarily defeated that particular opponent and we’re never going to let that opponent, and Charles agrees with me even more than I do, we’re never going to let that opponent have a nuclear weapon, they know that. And we are going to stand defiant and triumphant against the forces of communism, fascism, and tyranny.”As head of state, the King is above party politics and remains neutral.A Buckingham Palace spokesperson said: “The King is naturally mindful of his Government’s long-standing and well-known position on the prevention of nuclear proliferation.”Earlier today, the King and Queen said they “stand in enduring solidarity with the American people” as they commemorated those killed during the September 11 terrorist attacks.Charles and Camilla’s words of sympathy were written in a message left with a bouquet of flowers placed at the imposing memorial in New York, honouring the thousands of people who lost their lives almost 25 years ago.The handwritten note, in the King’s distinctive black script, said: “We honour the memory for those who so tragically lost their lives on 11th September 2001.“We stand in enduring solidarity with the American people and in the face of their profound loss. Charles R Camilla.”
