You can now buy an ENTIRE Irish mountain – including the famous Guinness Lake
A massive 1,527-acre land parcel encompassing Ireland’s second-highest peak in Wicklow is soon set to be auctioned off with a whopping price tag.
The area covers the Lugnaquilla summit, which overlooks the famous Guinness Lake – or Lough Tay.
At 925 metres, it is the highest mountain in Leinster and the highest peak in Ireland outside of Kerry.
On a clear day, Percy’s Table Plateau, which lies at the summit, also has a stunning view of Snowdonia in Wales.
However, finding a buyer for the gigantic area of land could likely be harder than one might imagine.
The Lugnaquilla piece of land is set to go up for auction in Dublin on Friday, May 1, though its listing price has dropped significantly over the past year.

While now expected to sell for around €2million, the price tag has been reduced by €5 million from the figure quoted for the same holding in 2025.
According to Gort-based selling agent Colm Farrell, the potential market is set to draw a global appeal.
Farrell told the Irish Examiner: ‘We have two prominent clients who have professed an interest in the property and have requested contracts.
‘One of them is in the Middle East… and the other interested party is looking to buy on behalf of a client.
‘Of course, the State would have an interest in it. There is other minimal interest in the property – there have been other requests for contracts.’
The vendors have reportedly formally written to Tánaiste Simon Harris and the National Parks and Wildlife Service to urge the State to engage before the auction.
They believe that the addition of Lugnaquilla’s summit and southern slopes to the Wicklow Mountains National Park would be a worthwhile expansion to Ireland’s protected landscape.
It is also close to the Wicklow Way, giving it tourism and recreational value.
