Batman: Arkham Asylum Officially Returns Next Month

Batman: Arkham Asylum came out all the way back in 2009, but the story penned by the DC legend Paul Dini has remained in the public consciousness ever since. It was one of the strongest starts for a video game franchise in the past few decades, taking the classic Batman-versus-Joker setup and turning it into an engaging, atmospheric action-adventure romp. Despite a heavily popular trilogy, WB has had some missteps along the way, with the polarizing Batman: Arkham Origins, and the lore-linked Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, which had a disastrous launch, followed by a rough live service period. Batman: Arkham Shadow breathed some fresh life into the series, but it wasn't quite enough, given the limited VR audience. Naturally, fans want a comeback. Over on X, folks are anticipating the return of Batman: Arkham Asylum, and it seems like it's going to be a pretty fun homecoming. Arkham Batman Is Officially Back With A New Look When Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight hits on May 22, it's going to bring in a ton of homages with it. We've already seen jokes from the Tim Burton Batmanverse, Nolan's films, and even 2022's Robert Pattinson-helmed The Batman. There's bound to be plenty of comic-based and television references, too, beyond the big screen, as Traveler's Tales seems to really be stretching its legs. Now we can confirm that Legacy of the Dark Knight will pay homage to the original Batman: Arkham Asylum, with a suit that looks like it was LEGO-fied straight from the games. As the LEGO Games News X account points out: "The bat symbol, the individual holes on the torso, the gauntlets, the belt and even the cape covering apart of Batman’s chest is integrated." There is no doubt in my mind that some of the mid-to-late game costumes will get really out there, just like Insomniac does with the Marvel's Spider-Man series. Prepare for some really inside baseball Batsuits, and it's highly likely that we could get more Arkham Asylum love, including the evolution of suits that Rocksteady has designed throughout the ages. LEGO Batman: Legacy Of The Dark Knight Looks Outstanding So Far, It's A Great Homage Overall A promotional image of Batman in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight. LEGO Batman: Legacy Of The Dark Knight pretty much wowed Batman fans with the first trailer, and it's been looking great ever since. Traveller's Tales does a fantastic job of recreating all sorts of franchises, but they've always done great work with Batman, and with the entire IP at their fingertips, the sky is the limit. With this Batman: Arkham Asylum homage, it shows how willing TT and WB are in terms of bringing in violent depictions of Batman, but LEGO-fied. This should be a great introduction to the greater Batman universe if it pans out.
