Taylor Sheridan's Landman Officially Sets New Release Today
Taylor Sheridan's Landman is about to get even easier to watch. Sheridan's Western universe is constantly expanding, and one of the most popular series is Landman on Paramount+. The star-studded cast includes Billy Bob Thornton, Ali Larter, Sam Elliott, Demi Moore, Michelle Randolph, and more. The series follows Tommy Norris (played by Thornton) as he tries to make his company rise to the top in a world powered by the oil business in the heart of West Texas.
Season 2 of Landman will be released digitally on April 20, with two brand-new featurettes. The special features will include Going Deeper: Inside Landman Season 2, which is a behind-the-scenes look at the cast and crew reuniting ahead of an even more intense season, as well as Finding Character in Clothing, which will show costume designer Janie Bryant showing the inner workings of the wardrobe from Landman and how style defines each character.
Set in the boomtowns of West Texas, Landman is a modern tale of fortune seeking amongst roughnecks and wildcat billionaires – fueling an oil boom so big it’s reshaping the climate, the economy, and geopolitics.
Landman has been a tremendous success for both Paramount and Sheridan, as it dominates viewership charts. The premiere of season 2 was record-breaking, securing over 9.2 million global viewers within 48 hours of its release, a 262% increase over the season 1 debut. The second season of the series also saw a significant improvement in terms of reviews, with season 1 reaching an impressive 78% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and season 2 achieving an 83% rating.
Critics stated that season 2 of Landman is "better than season 1," and others stated it's "exciting" and "engaging." ScreenRant's Grant Hermanns also gave his review of the second season, stating that "Landman was such a welcome change of pace" from other notable Sheridan series. Sheridan has built a huge television empire for Paramount with gritty, hard-hitting series including Yellowstone and its spin-offs, The Madison, and more. Each of his series dominates viewership statistics and continues to break records while competing with other notable series on the same platform and others. His use of character-driven stories and impressive casts keeps drawing more and more viewers in for each season.
Sheridan has made it known that he's leaving Paramount despite having many series on the streaming giant, including the Yellowstone franchise and many more. The creator will be leaving in 2029 for NBCUniversal, giving his current shows a clear expiration date. The reason for his departure is reportedly due to creative differences, and he will begin his five-year deal on January 1, 2029. Landman is available to stream on Paramount+, and it will be available to purchase digitally from April 20.
