French far right wins towns, loses in cities as mayoral vote kicks off race to succeed Macron
Marine Le Pen’s far-right National Rally won second-round runoffs in several French towns on Sunday but fell short in Marseille, Toulon and Nîmes, three of its prime targets in nationwide municipal elections that exposed the strengths and weaknesses of France's fractious political parties a year ahead of the all-important presidential vote.
