It’s the first time a ban on this care has reached Congress. First introduced by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), the bill refers to treatments like surgery and hormone therapy as “genital or bodily mutilation” and “chemical castration.” It’s one of two bills focused on restricting pediatric gender-affirming care that the House plans to consider this week, before lawmakers depart for their holiday break.
