Hong Kong votes in legislative election as city mourns deadly high rise fire | DW News
Hong Kong voters are heading to the polls to elect new lawmakers as the city mourns last month's deadly high-rise fire.
Voter turnout is expected to be low. Public anger is still high over government's handling of the tragedy that killed at least 159 people. Candidates paused their campaigns for several days following the fire. Hong Kong's electoral system was overhauled by China to only allow vetted candidates to hold office.
