Paul O'Sullivan, holding records we he says discriminates against him, outside Bessborough house, where his mother spent the late stages of her pregnancy“It’s like a chess board,” Paul O’Sullivan explains, as we sit outside the former Bessborough Mother and Baby Home, where his mother had spent several days in the lead-up to his birth.“There are 64 squares on the board; you can’t look at one square individually, you’ve got to look at it all together. From the top to the bottom might seem distant, but eventually they’re all linked through pieces on the board. Each little square is another piece that tells me about what took place.”
