Funeral details announced for Natalie McLaughlin and daughter Ella (6) killed in Donegal crash

Natalie McLaughlin, aged in her 20s, and Ella (6), of Pound Street, Carndonagh, will be laid to rest on Monday.Ella McLaughlin passed away on Wednesday night following the collision between a car and a van on the R240 at Carndonagh, shortly before 6.30pm.Her mother, Natalie McLaughlin, died on Thursday evening after being transported for treatment at Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.Their remains will repose at the home of Natalie's parents, Joanne and Danny McLaughlin, at Church Road, Carndonagh, where everyone is welcome to pay their respects on Sunday between 1pm and 9pm.The funeral mass will take place at 12pm in Sacred Heart Church in Carndonagh, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.A death notice reads: "Much-loved mother and sister of Rhea-Rose and cherished daughter and granddaughter of Joanne and Danny and adored sister and niece of Lara, Tiarnan and Ryan.“Deeply regretted and sadly missed by their grandparents and great grandparents, Lynn and Anthony Noone and Margaret and Hugh McLaughlin, Natalie’s partner Tyrone, nieces and nephews, wider family circle, friends and neighbours,” it said.Ella’s infant sister, who was a rear-seat passenger in the car, was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at Royal Victoria Hospital.Ms McLaughlin’s partner, who was the front-seat passenger, is also being treated for non-life-threatening injuries at Altnagelvin Hospital, Derry.Ella was a senior infants pupil at St Patrick's Girls National School, Carndonagh, while Natalie was a past pupil of the school.In a heartfelt tribute, the school said it is devastated by the news of the passing of their "beautiful and vibrant" pupil, and her beloved mother."This is an unimaginable tragedy for their family, for our school, and for the entire community,” it said.The school said Ella will be remembered not only for her kindness, energy, and the happiness she brought to her classmates and teachers, but also for being a real mischievous character who was full of life and fun.Natalie was well known in the community and worked as a nurse at a doctor’s surgery in Carndonagh.Fianna Fáil councillor Martin McDermott said: “She was well known with people coming in and out all the time to the surgery. People would have known her well and she would have helped lots of people in the surgery.”“It is such a sad day for Inishowen and it is just one of another many sad days we have had here," said Cllr McDermott.An Garda Síochána is appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact them.Any road users who may have camera footage, including dashcam, and were travelling in the area between 6pm and 6.30pm on Wednesday, July 2, are asked to make this footage available to investigating gardaí.“Anyone with information is asked to contact Buncrana garda station on 074 932 0540, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station,” a Garda spokesperson said.A fundraiser has been set up for the family, to donate, see more here
