Eld Elden Ring Items: As anticipation builds

As anticipation builds for Elden Ring:
FromSoftware's first venture into a multiplayer-centric experience with Elden Ring Items roguelike elements, players are excited not only for the new mechanics but also for the return of some of the studio's most iconic bosses.
Nightreign is set to bring back familiar foes from Elden Ring, such as the Godskin Nobles, Morgott, and the ancient dragons, as well as classic Dark Souls bosses like the Nameless King and Centipede Demon. But a recent gameplay leak from the user has sparked speculation that Dark Souls' Gaping Dragon could also be making a return. If true, this could be just the beginning of a revival for many overlooked bosses from the Dark Souls trilogy.
A Second Chance for the Gaping Dragon
The Gaping Dragon from Dark Souls (2011) isn't often mentioned among the most memorable or challenging bosses of the game. Sandwiched between two difficult areas, the Gaping Dragon encounter often gets overshadowed by more iconic fights like Ornstein and Smough, Artorias, or Manus. Yet, the Gaping Dragon's grotesque design and the eerie atmosphere surrounding its introduction still stand out as one of Dark Souls' most haunting visuals.
The Gaping Dragon's fight is relatively straightforward:
The boss charges around the arena, and players focus on attacking its heels while dodging its powerful AoE attacks. While the fight isn't inherently bad, its length and lack of significant difficulty have made it an easy target for criticism. Despite its lackluster gameplay, the Gaping Dragon's unsettling presence still makes it one of Dark Souls' more memorable early-game bosses.
Nightreign could offer the Gaping Dragon a second chance to shine. With the enhancements of modern game mechanics and FromSoftware's knack for reimagining bosses, the Gaping Dragon could receive a much-needed glow-up. If its moveset is revamped with more dynamic behavior-such as more aggressive attacks or a more engaging this boss could finally receive the recognition it never truly got.
Dark Souls Bosses That Deserve a Glow-Up in Nightreign
The Gaping Dragon might be just one example of how Nightreign could bring long-forgotten bosses back into the spotlight. If FromSoftware is willing to make changes to the original movesets, several other Dark Souls bosses could benefit from Elden Ring Runes a similar revival.
