The association between river traveling

The association between river traveling and families is often limited, since the majority of river cruise companies primarily target an older demographic and provide few or no family amenities. A German river cruise company, A-Rosa Cruises, aims to revolutionise the industry by introducing the family-oriented A-Rosa Sena in June 2022.

The hybrid ship, which is partly fuelled by electricity, is the biggest vessel on the Rhine River, capable of accommodating up to 280 passengers. Additionally, the ship has other innovative industrial innovations. The amenities include a lively children's club, 12 spacious family cabins spanning 301 square feet, that can accommodate up to geometry dash five people with integrated bunk beds, and a specialized children's splash pool located on the upper deck.
Situated next to the splash pool, the main pool spans over 250 square feet, providing enough space for swimming short laps. The facilities available for adults include a spa, a lively lounge, a sun deck bar, and a wine room for sampling regional alcoholic beverages.

The objective of A-Rosa is to attract a greater number of families to engage in river cruising, and Serkan Bilici, the assistant hotel manager of A-Rosa Sena, notes that this effort is successful. In an interview with Travel + Leisure, Bilici said that there are presently 32 youngsters on board and all of the family accommodations are fully filled. "During the summer, the number of children sailing increased significantly, reaching beyond 40, ranging from infants to teenagers, and attracting visitors from more than 20 different countries."

“In addition, we provided swimming lessons on certain sailings in August, which garnered significant popularity,” Serkan explains. Indeed, our weeklong October cruise included infants, toddlers, older children, and teenagers.

With its main operations conducted in English and German, the ship guarantees the provision of excellent care for children. Usually, the children's club has two hosts. During our sailing trip, host Mai coordinated a "Meet the Captain" event, led treasure hunts, and conducted arts and crafts workshops. Furthermore, the youngsters were granted autonomy, allowing them to freely decide how they would use their time at the club, including games, literature, and enough room for young patrons to unwind.

For families, the children's club is a very delightful experience. The facility is adorned with nautical-themed artwork, creating a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. Children engage in activities such as reading, painting, and constructing dens, while Sebastian and I engage in several games of Snakes and Ladders.
