Bathroom renovations are among the most disruptive and rewarding home improvement projects a homeowner can undertake. In Whitby, where housing stock ranges from historic downtown character homes to newer builds in Brooklin and Williamsburg, choosing the right contractor means the difference between a smooth, predictable project and months of frustration. The following five contractors have verifiable track records on independent platforms including HomeStars, Google, and Houzz, with customer reviews specifically citing bathroom renovation and vinyl flooring installation Whitby in the Whitby area.
- Wilfred Lafleur (Electrical & Home Improvement)
Wilfred Lafleur operates a Whitby-based renovation and electrical services company that holds a perfect 5-star rating on HomeStars. The company specializes in bathroom remodeling alongside electrical installations, kitchen renovations, and basement finishing.
What distinguishes Lafleur in the Whitby market is the consistency of praise for communication and reliability. A recent customer who had their bathroom completely gutted and renovated while overseas wrote that “Will was the only contractor I had a great experience with,” noting that he “sent update photos and kept me in the loop of the progress” and that the work was so clean “it was like there was not any renovation that happened in the home”. Another reviewer emphasized that Lafleur “stuck to the contract that we both agreed upon” and completed the project “in a timely manner,” adding that “it is nice to finally have a contractor that I can trust”.
- Everlion Construction INC
Everlion Construction is located at 49 Glen Everest Rd in Scarborough and holds a 5.0-star rating on Google Maps with 32 customer reviews. The company provides flooring and complete renovation services across Toronto, Whitby, and the broader GTA.
According to Google reviews, Everlion has built strong customer recognition in flooring installation and subfloor preparation—skills that are directly relevant to bathroom renovation, where proper waterproofing and level substrates are critical. One customer wrote that Fred’s team installed solid hardwood flooring with results that were “excellent — the floor is solid, smooth, and the workmanship is very professional. They arrived on time, explained the entire process clearly, and completed everything within our specified timeframe.” Another customer reviewed a basement self-leveling project: “The floor is perfectly flat and ready for flooring. We got quotes from several other companies, but their price was the most reasonable.” A third customer, after PVC flooring installation in a condo, wrote: “He worked very cleanly and communicated smoothly — everything went very well.”
For Whitby homeowners, Everlion offers free no-obligation quotes and same-day response to enquiries, with service coverage extending across Durham Region.
- Ninth & Co. Contracting
Ninth & Co. holds a 5-star HomeStars rating across 19 reviews and earned a Best of Awards recognition in 2024. Based in Whitby, the company is led by Trey, who customers consistently describe as professional and detail-oriented.
Bathroom renovation reviews are particularly strong. One customer who had their en-suite renovated wrote that “Trey and his team gave us a beautiful en-suite and were easy to work with and change things along the way according to our taste or concerns”. Another reviewer praised Trey’s communication: “If changes are required, he took the time to explain it, then seek permission to proceed”. Perhaps most telling, a customer whose basement bathroom was renovated stated simply: “If you're looking for a contractor that you can trust, go with Trey”.
- Precision Improvements
Precision Improvements holds a 5-star HomeStars rating and specializes exclusively in bathroom renovations—from studs to finishes. The company explicitly states it can handle projects ranging from $15,000 to $50,000 and guarantees results.
Customer feedback emphasizes budget management and communication. A Whitby homeowner who completed a bathroom renovation wrote: “Jay from Precision Improvement listened to what we wanted in a new bathroom, and he offered advice throughout the project. He developed a detailed budget that helped ensure that we stayed within budget when selecting materials. They looked for deals throughout the process and we ended the project under budget!”. Another reviewer noted that “Jason took me around Whitby to help with the planning and offered lots of suggestions” and that he “came back after one week to check on his work and see if we had any concerns”.
- Trust My Handyman
Trust My Handyman holds a 99% StarScore on HomeStars across 39 reviews, earned a HomeStars Award in 2023, and was recognized as Whitby’s Best Handyman in 2024. Run by Peter and Shant, the company offers kitchen and bathroom renovations with full project management from material sourcing through installation.
Reviewers consistently note Peter’s punctuality and the reasonableness of his pricing compared to competing quotes. In a Durham Region market where larger firms often carry significant overhead, Trust My Handyman’s lean structure allows it to offer professional-quality results at prices that routinely undercut the competition. For homeowners who want craftsmanship without the premium, this is the kind of contractor that becomes a long-term relationship.
What to Verify Before Hiring
Before signing a contract with any bathroom renovation contractor in Whitby, homeowners should confirm several things:
- WSIB coverage and liability insurance— Ask for certificates. Without WSIB clearance, you may be held liable for workplace injuries on your property.
- Written, itemized quotes— Ensure the quote breaks down labour and materials by category and specifies whether permits and disposal are included.
- References from recent projects— Ask for contacts from bathroom renovations completed within the last 6–12 months and actually call them.
- The 10-day cooling-off period— Under Ontario’s Consumer Protection Act, contracts over $50 signed in your home come with a 10-day right to cancel.
Bathroom renovations and vinyl flooring installation Whitby in the Durham Region typically range from $15,000 to $27,000 for mid-range projects, depending on scope and finishes. A contractor who quotes significantly below market rates may be cutting corners on waterproofing or using unlicensed trades. The five contractors listed here have each demonstrated a verifiable track record of customer satisfaction in the Whitby area. Homeowners should contact at least two or three for quotes and references before making a final decision.
