Modern Warfare 4 players have a fairly tight window if they want the scarce version of the Gilded Ruin Animated Camo. This is not a reward that simply appears at launch. Anyone planning their first few sessions, or checking out MW4 Bot Lobbies to warm up before the rush, should get the pre-order sorted well ahead of time. A digital purchase of either the Standard Edition or Vault Edition is required. Once that purchase is attached to the right account, the Gilded Pearl Weapon Camo Pack should be added automatically. There is no separate code to chase down, which is a relief, but logging into Black Ops 7 at the proper time still matters.
What unlocks first
Season 5 of Black Ops 7 begins on July 23, 2026. When the season goes live, pre-order pack owners can claim the Moonlit Pearl Universal Weapon Camo by signing in. Think of Moonlit Pearl as the first gate rather than the big prize. The Gilded Ruin challenge will not be available until 12:00 p.m. Pacific Time that same day, so jumping in hours early will not put anyone ahead. Players who care about the numbered camo should make sure their game is updated, their account is linked, and they can access Black Ops 7 before the challenge opens.
- 1. Digitally pre-order Modern Warfare 4, Standard or Vault Edition.
- 2. Log into Black Ops 7 after Season 5 starts on July 23, 2026.
- 3. Collect the Moonlit Pearl Universal Weapon Camo.
- 4. Enter and complete the Gilded Ruin challenge from 12:00 p.m. PT.
Why the timing is a big deal
The unusual part is the 100,000-player cap on the collectible version. The first 100,000 people around the world to finish the challenge will receive Gilded Ruin with a visible weapon serial number, starting at 000001 and ending at 100000. That number is meant to show where a player landed in the race. Miss that first wave and the challenge is still worth completing: the regular, unnumbered Gilded Ruin Universal Camo remains available. Both editions can be used in Modern Warfare 4 once they have been earned. It turns a normal unlock task into something closer to a launch-day sprint, especially for collectors who do not want the plain version.
More dates to keep on the calendar
There has already been some early activity around the game. Fanatics Fest in New York, running from July 16 through July 19, gave selected attendees hands-on time with Modern Warfare 4 and its Kill Block 10v10 Multiplayer mode. The next major stop is COD NEXT on August 21, where Multiplayer should get a fuller showcase. Pre-order customers on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC can then join the Early Access Beta from August 21 to August 25. The wider Open Beta follows from August 28 through September 1, with Nintendo Switch 2 joining the test for the first time. If you are aiming for the numbered camo, cheap MW4 Bot Lobbies may help with pre-launch practice, but being online when the challenge opens is what really counts.
