Young Dublin Beatles superfan surprised with invite to play world famous Cavern Club

A young Dublin Beatles superfan has been surprised with an invite to play the world famous Cavern Club.Riordan Hopwood has amassed over 20,000 views on social media for his busking exploits. The young star, who isn just 12, can often be seen on Dublin's Grafton Street in his videos - and is often also seen and heard signing songs by his favourite band: The Beatles.Riordan was invited onto The Saturday Breakfast Show on BBC Merseyside, where he dove deep into his passion for the Fab Four - and revealed where his dream gig to play would be. He said: "I adore the Beatles."They're the only music I listen to, I just love The Beatles. I just find that they have a lot of variety of music, from the early rock n' roll tunes like When I Saw Her Standing There or Money, to the more psychedelic music of A Day In The Life and Strawberry Fields Forever."It's just so moving to me, it's amazing. I'd love to play at the Cavern Club on Mathew Street, because it's where the Beatles played."Jon Keats, who is the Director of Operations and Music at the club, then came on the show with a surprise request. He asked: "I don't know if this is possible, you're obviously a very busy musician, but is there any chance you could come and do a gig at the Cavern?"An ecstatic Riordan replied: "100 per cent, of course! It's a 100 per cent yes, thank you so much." There is no news on when Riordan's gig will be, but we will all be keeping a eye out for this rising star - as will Saturday Breakfast host Paul Beesley,He said: "What a lovely, and very talented, young man. I’m looking guests to seeing him at the Cavern Club." You can check out Riordan's music on his YouTube channel here.Want to see more of the stories you love from Dublin Live?
