Intensive search of river continues as fears grow for missing 14-year-old boy
Benjamin Spot (14), who was reported missing in Navan, Co. Meath on Wednesday, 19th November 2025A major search operation is continuing along the River Boyne in Co Meath for 14-year-old Benjamin Spot, who has been missing for nearly three weeks.Benjamin, known as 'Beni' was reported missing in Navan 19 days ago, on Wednesday, November 19, and there are growing fears he may have fallen into the river. Meath Civil Defence confirmed on Thursday that its most recent search efforts ended without success."Our bank search team worked around the Slane area. Our search operation will continue in the coming days with our boat, kayaks, search dog, sonar and drone teams," the organisation said in a post on social media.Volunteers from Meath River Rescue have also been combing extensive stretches of the Boyne for the past 19 days in a continued effort to locate the missing teenager.Benjamin, from Johnstown, was last seen cycling from Market Square in Navan toward the Kentstown Road/Ramparts area on the evening of November 19.His bicycle was found the following day, Thursday, November 20, at the Ramparts in Navan. In a statement, An Garda Síochana appealed for the public's assistance in tracing the 14-year-old."Benjamin is described as being approximately 5ft 1in in height, with blonde hair and blue eyes. Gardai and Benjamin's family are concerned for his well-being," the statement said.
