Met Eireann warns of 'unusual amount of uncertainty' amid storm fears
Ireland facing potential storm next weekIreland may be bracing for stormy weather next week as low pressure systems continue to hold sway, although significant uncertainty remains in the meteorological outlook.Met Éireann is closely monitoring weather models due to concerns about potential stormy conditions that could impact the island of Ireland. What forecasters can say with confidence is that heavy rainfall and powerful winds are expected over the coming days as low pressure brings turbulent conditions across much of the nation. The national weather service's projection indicates conditions will be "overall unsettled with rain, showers and the potential for strong winds at times. An unusual amount of uncertainty in the details from Monday night onwards." Temperatures are expected to stay relatively mild for the season, making prospects of a white Christmas appear increasingly unlikely, reports the Irish Mirror. The western and northern regions are anticipated to bear the brunt of any severe rainfall, hail, winds and possibly even thunderstorms in the week ahead. Irish meteorological expert Alan O'Reilly, who operates the hugely popular @CarlowWeather account on X, is also tracking the possible stormy activity in the coming days.He said: "Latest weather model updates for Tuesday continue to show uncertainty on the track of potential storm. The UKMO model has the worst outcome this morning. The conveyor belt of low systems will continue coming across the Atlantic with risk of more storms this coming week."Meanwhile, the weekend kicked off with damp and blustery weather in many regions, as Status Yellow rain warnings for the counties of Cork and Kerry expired at 9am on Saturday, December 6.Today is set to be generally breezy with scattered showers evolving into longer bouts of rain, though brighter intervals will emerge in the afternoon with temperatures ranging from 8C to 12C.Sunday is expected to begin under cloudy skies with sporadic rain and drizzle, which could occasionally intensify. The west and south can anticipate brighter spells in the afternoon, with temperatures mirroring those of Saturday.Join our Dublin Live breaking news service on WhatsApp. Click this link to receive your daily dose of Dublin Live content. We also treat our community members to special offers, promotions, and adverts from us and our partners.
