James Gunn has debunked a casting rumor regarding Man of Tomorrow.
Man of Tomorrow is the forthcoming DC Studios and Warner Bros. Pictures movie that serves as a follow-up to 2025’s Superman. Directed by Gunn, the film will see David Corenswet and Nicholas Hoult reprise their respective roles as Superman/Clark Kent and Lex Luthor.
On Threads, Gunn responded to a rumor stating that Steve Trevor may be on Gunn’s casting list for Man of Tomorrow. This rumor originated after scooper Daniel Richtman said that there is a “major new male character they are casting for Man of Tomorrow,” as many people quickly began speculating this could either be Steve or potentially Batman.
“Nope,” Gunn simply said when responding to the Steve rumor.
It makes sense that DCU fans would hypothesize that Steve could be in Man of Tomorrow, as there are also rumors floating around that Wonder Woman might appear in the movie. In DC Comics lore, Steve is typically a trusted friend and frequent love interest of Wonder Woman; however, Diana’s presence in Man of Tomorrow has not yet been confirmed by anyone involved with the project.
Man of Tomorrow arrives in United States theaters on July 9, 2027.
Superman, meanwhile, is currently available to stream on HBO Max. The second entry in Gunn and Safran’s DCU following Creature Commandos Season 1, the synopsis for the movie reads, “Superman, DC Studios’ first feature film to hit the big screen, is set to soar into theaters worldwide this summer from Warner Bros.
